Our A level curriculum is superbly supported by the opportunity to participate in a wide range of co-curricular musical ensembles, as well as providing enrichment through regular trips and workshops. Our A Level students perform regularly throughout the year both in the school and the wider community. They will also act as mentors and role models for students further down the school. Students studying A level music will have full access to two fully equipped music ICT suites as well as a dedicated recording studio.
Course Breakdown
Performing (30%)
An 8 minute recital, which can include solo and ensemble works
Composition (30%)
One composition of 4m and two chorale harmonisations
Appraising Exam (40%)
You will study 13 set works which will be examined in a 120 minute written examination (see below for pieces).
